Aura
Loved by Madonna and owned by airline mogul Tony Fernandes, motorsport entrepreneur Jonny Dodge and Supper Club owner Alberto Barbieri, it comes as no surprise that Aura Mayfair is a restaurant, cocktail bar and club that attracts London’s jet-set party people. This lavish venue is filled with leather, low lighting, and a ceiling that changes colour throughout the night, and the furnishings at Aura Mayfair have been sourced from a company that fits out superyachts and private jets. The result is a super-exclusive venue that is London’s only member of The World’s Finest Clubs. The restaurant serves modern Mediterranean food, and the sexy crowd and superb cocktail list make Aura Mayfair one of London’s premium party venues.

Axis Bar & Restaurant
Axis occupies part of the ground floor overlooking the courtyard of the Hilton Islington and does a very good job of keeping up with the Joneses (the Business Design Exhibition Centre is next door). A very design-led space, it's furnished with comfy sofas, rthe pefect place to unwind infront of the floor to ceiling windows; rather dramatic. The food is Mediterranean combined with traditional british. Daily-changing mezze are the dishes to start with, favourites include Patatas Bravas and Parma Ham with roasted Plums. Diners are predominantly business people and hotel guests, though couples do come in the evening when low lighting and candlelight create a nice, romantic atmosphere.

Baharat
Baharat restaurant, located in South Woodford, prides itself on being one of the first restaurants to bring Indo-Mediterranean cuisine to London. The name, Baharat, is the Arabic name for a spice mix used throughout the Mediterranean, Middle East and North Africa; the cuisine draws mainly on Indian and also Moroccan and Turkish influences, and the menu is split into two sections accordingly. Baharat's menu caters for every taste – the first section is full of popular Indian favourites, including puri, masala and jalfrezi dishes, and the second half features mezze, kebabs and tagines. As well as the emphasis on flavour, the team at Baharat pride themselves on using fresh, locally sourced produc. The décor of the restaurant, too, is a blend of Middle Eastern and Mediterranean themes; earthy colours and antique-look mirrors and light fittings give the place an exotic feel. This, combined with warm and friendly service makes for a relaxing dining experience.

For hearty Mediterranean meals and a no-nonsense, unpretentious vibe, Bistro1 is a buzzy venue for informal lunches, office parties and lively nights out with groups of friends. The dining room is colourful and the restaurant's service is super-friendly, but Bistro1's menu itself is the main attraction, crammed with old-fashioned favourites such as fish and chips, bangers and mash and chargrilled sardines. We love the pan-fried tuna steak with sautéed cherry tomatoes, garlic sauce and rice; the Mediterranean-style meat Moussaka with rice and salad; and the sticky and delicious homemade banoffee pie.
