	Back to Basics Back to Basics restaurant is that rare thing – a neighbourhood bistro in central London serving flawlessly fresh seafood at reasonable prices. This family run restaurant has been open for 15 years and has become a firm favourite with Fitzrovian locals and those from further afield. Much of the menu is chalked on a blackboard and changes daily; in this case the catch of the day really is of the day, and the menu varies depending on what the fisherman bring in. Seafood is the speciality here, and the menu might feature dishes like squid salad, mackerel with lentils or swordfish steak. For those that don't want seafood, rest assured – there are also options like baby chicken, couscous or steak. Customers rave about this place but most mention two things: 1) Back to Basics is a small and very popular restaurant, so book in order to avoid disappointment and 2) if you eat early you'll be spoiled for choice, but by 9pm, many of the day's specials will have run out.
