Chamberlain's Restaurant
Chamberlain's Restaurant in historic Leadenhall Market in the City of London has been described as 'perfect fish in the heart of the city'. Need we say more? Its wholesale fish business, Chamberlain and Thelwell, was established at Billingsgate in 1947 to supply the best restaurants and hotels in London with superior fish. Today, this lovely restaurant serves top quality fish to a retinue of loyal clients. In fact, this is exactly how fish is meant to be cooked: simply, the fish being the main focus of each dish. The restaurant extends over three floors that look out onto the stunning architecture of Leadenhall Market with a stylishly uncluttered ground floor restaurant, intimate mezzanine, romantic and slightly more formal first floor restaurant, and the atmospheric basement bar with its original brickwork and high vaulted ceilings. In warm weather the al fresco market terrace is one of London’s favourite places. Chamberlain’s combines the best of two historic London markets with fresh-as-tomorrow fish and fine service.

The menu is a seafood-lover’s dream with classics like smoked fish pie and lemon sole sitting alongside contemporary dishes like Thai-style Cornish squid salad. The hot and cold shellfish platters are great if you’re celebrating, and there are meaty grills on offer for those who prefer land to sea. The polite, friendly and quick service is another Loch Fyne byword as is the consistently superb quality of all the seafood. With very few exceptions, all the seafood on the menu is sustainably-sourced from Loch Fyne in Scotland and around the British coast. Guilt-free seafood delight.

The Fish Shop
In London’s always trendy Clerkenwell, The Fish Shop restaurant has captured the imagination of local diners. If you used to love the Upper Street Fish Shop, you’ll find some of that team here but in a much more upmarket setting. With a delightful dining room and a friendly, relaxed vibe fitting perfectly in amongst the brasseries and bars of the area, The Fish Shop is far from ordinary. Light and simply decorated in muted tones, this restaurant is the epitome of modern, easygoing dining, perfectly suited to its surroundings in a buzzing neighbourhood. The menu changes every day, depending on the availability of fish in the market. You may certainly opt for fish and chips - some say the fish and chips at The Fish Shop are the best in London. Or choose other seafood dishes, from caramelised skate wing with braised English cabbage to an iced platter of shellfish. Terrific choice before shows at nearby Sadler’s Wells.
