Barcelona Tapas Bar y Restaurante
Barcelona Tapas Bar y Restaurant is a gorgeous, vivacious Spanish restaurant that’s a City of London favourite. There's fun in the air -- the splendid yellows, reds and blues of the decor, the vivid flavours on the plates, the unusual and intriguing wine list, and the jostling sociability of the smart wait staff all add up to a hugely enjoyable mix. The ground floor of Barcelona Tapas Bar y Restaurant offers both bar and table service, and is a terrific place to meet up at lunch or after work and sample some of the excellent - and rare - Spanish wines and bubblies. Barcelona’s mezzanine level is guarded by a Gaudi-inspired mosaic lizard and decorated with flamenco and toreador costumes. You can stick to your favourites from the menu, like chorizo, patatas bravas, and paella, or you can discover rare Iberian ham or broad bean stew with black pudding. Save room for the excellent cheeses.

Barcelona Tapas Bar y Restaurante
Spanish passion is everywhere in the Barcelona, from the vivid colours, to the intense flavours, to the attention to detail, to the happy hubbub of diners and drinkers giving themselves over to pleasure. There's a mad mosaic Gaudi-esque lizard over the Cava Bar, a terrific meeting and drinking space that features a winning selection of Spanish bubblies. Then the same sort of wandering mosaic path guides you downstairs to the large, cheerful dining room. Choose a zillion tapas and share them with mates, or pick carefully and respect Dr Atkins - either way you'll find dishes skillfully prepared and with a touch of sunny inspiration that will set your palate aglow. Try favourites like chorizo or paella or go for rarer Iberian ham or broad bean stew with black pudding. Wash it all down with lovely sangria or one of the brilliant wines from the all-Spanish list.

Barcelona Tapas Bar y Restaurante
Barcelona Tapas Bar Y Restaurant in the City of London near Leadenhall Market and the Lloyds building is the fifth in a chain of popular Spanish restaurants founded by father and son team, Martin and David Dalmau. The group’s tag line is ‘the authentic taste of Spain in London’ – which happily seems to be the case. Barcelona Tapas Bar Y Restaurant is a brightly-painted basement room with orange wall edges decorated with colourful, swirling mosaic tile by designer Donna Reeves which features the trademark lizard. At Barcelona, you feast on an aromatic wealth of delicious tapas – tender beef meat balls, Mediterranean prawns, deep-fried baby calamares, paella, patatas bravas – they’re all on the menu. There are plenty of irresistible vegetarian dishes, too. Excellent homemade crema Catalana, and a fantastic selection of Spanish wines listed by denominación de origen. Real Spanish vibe, especially at the regular Wednesday Tapas ‘n’ Jazz night.

Pinchito Tapas
Pinchito Tapas is a Shoreditch restaurant that’s a hit with a kooky mix of scenesters, London City types and socialistas who love the bite-sized food, killer cocktails and effortlessly eclectic décor. Pinchito Tapas is the sister restaurant to the wildly successful Pintxo People restaurant in Brighton, and the place oozes Spanish style with its boho black and charcoal grey walls, blue leather seats and bright red accents. With live DJs, Cuban jazz bands and old school salsa, the restaurant is a popular spot for after-work drinks and informal business meetings, and we love the chorizo and mango tortilla, the ham and cheese croquettes and the Pink Sangria cocktails made with strawberries, lychees, elderflower, rosé and gin. The chefs at Pinchito Tapas respect the seasonality of their ingredients, so menus change four times a year, but there are daily tapas specials too. Wednesday is always paella day, an authentic Spanish treat.
