Filled with wooden floors, simple flower arrangements and brightly patterned banquettes, Chella restaurant is suitable for business meetings, and the space has private dining options for events and cocktail parties. Chella’s menu is filled with old family recipes which have been given a modern makeover – we love the ash-e-reshteh soup made with Persian noodles, pulses and fresh herbs, and the gheimeh lamb stew with split yellow peas and dried limes cooked in a cinnamon and tomato sauce with aubergines and served with rice.

Deeyar
Located on Aldermans Hill in Palmers Green, this energetic kitchen and restaurant is half-familiar, half-Iranian - familiar because the comfortable dining room has solid wooden furniture and a clean, family-friendly feel, and Iranian because the meaty menu at Deeyar has an exotic edge. Kebabs aside, we love the mix of reasonably priced stews and starters here, and the restaurant draws a fun and chatty crowd making it a popular spot for casual group dining and parties. Save room for the khoresht ghormeh sabzi – a lamb stew cooked with finely chopped parsley, coriander, chives and fenugreek as well as red kidney beans and dried limes; and the chicken stewed in a pomegranate, walnut and saffron sauce.

Kish
The Kilburn High Road is a hive of activity and is filled with bustling cafés, restaurants and bars in north London. Kish is a favourite with locals for its fresh Persian/Iranian food and cosy, neighbourhood atmosphere, and the restaurant stands out slong the strip with its huge clay oven and chef’s work bench in the shopfront window. Step inside and the walls are a deep magenta giving the space a friendly glow. The floors are tiled and the vibe here is informal – but Kish is suitable for business dining or fun celebrations. The menu is filled with classic kebabs and grills and we recommend the charcoal grilled lamb chops with saffron steamed basmati rice and a grilled tomato for main course.

Tandis
Chalk Farm’s Haverstock Hill provides plenty of choice for the casual London diner, however few of its restaurants are as strikingly different as Tandis. Occupying a site formerly held by a trendy bar, Tandis retains the chilled, funky vibe and cool décor but has added excellent Persian food and friendly waiter service. Exposed brick walls and a mirrored bar, waterfall style chandeliers and reclamation style accessories make up the fashionable interior, suiting both the locals of rich Primrose Hill and grungy Camden, both within easy distance. Tandis’ Persian cuisine has also enthralled visitors looking for something totally different. Warm, pungent spices add subtle flavour to stews and kebabs with many vegetarian options available. Don’t miss the faloodeh, a delicious Persian sorbet.
