Furnished throughout in a French-Vietnamese colonial style, Bam-Bou is divided into two handsome dining rooms, four private rooms and a top-floor bar serving exquisite cocktails and Eastern teas and infusions. The menu showcases the best of southeast Asian cuisine, with authentic recipes and ingredients sourced from Thailand, China and Vietnam. You can feast on familiar favourites like green chicken curry, but we recommend the Hanoi-style short ribs and the seared scallops with sweet pork and perilla cress. With its flawless service and unique decor, Bam-Bou is an elegant restaurant that is perfect for low-key lunches and cosy dinner dates. Nuocmam
Widely used in East Asian cookery, Nuocmam is a staple of Eastern cuisine. The fact that this new venture in the centre of upmarket Fitzrovia has adopted the same as its very name suggests that Nuocmam takes its food very seriously indeed. Combining Vietnamese and Japanese cookery techniques, ingredients and dishes, Nuocmam offers a welcome break from the increasingly omnipresent sushi bars of the capital. The food may be serious but the vibe is certainly not - in fact a bar and Tokyo-inspired karaoke rooms are also thrown in to the mix for the fun loving diner looking for a night out with a difference. Before you warm up your voice though, fill your stomach with the likes of kim chee miso lamb or slow braised pork belly broth from the concise menu of new and old offerings.

Tiger Restaurant
If you're seeking something out of the ordinary, Streatham High Road's Tiger Restaurant is a must. A unique proposition, even in a city as diverse as London, Tiger offers typical Vietnamese food in a sleek, modern setting and with a surprising jazz soundtrack. It's a bright, spacious spot with two levels - below the glass fronted ground floor and above a cosy mezzanine with a view to the diners beneath - both staffed by friendly, well turned out staff. Designer lighting and unfussy furnishings combined with traditional Asian artefacts for an eclectic, expensive feel which somewhat belies the affordability of Tiger's menu. The kitchen is in the hands of well practised master chefs who know Vietnamese cuisine like the back of their rather skilled hands, resulting in an impressive array of dishes from throughout the varied culinary regions of the country. Additionally, Tiger offers an excellent selection of wines, among them offerings direct from Vietnam, though BYO is acceptable too.
