Al Moj
The Al Moj Restaurant is a little neighbourhood gem in London’s hip Bethnal Green district and a fantastic find for tasty, wholesome and affordable Lebanese food. Step inside and the dining room is a smart and stylish space with toffee-coloured walls, chocolate leather banquettes, ornate wooden dividers, colourful shisa pipes and souk-style lanterns. The delicious aroma comes from the coal-fired barbecue where meats are grilled for a deliciously smoky taste, and Al Moj Restaurant is a delightful and atmospheric place to spend an evening with family, friends or clients. The menu at Al Moj is filled with Lebanese classics such as Fattoush salad, shish kebabs and plenty of hoummos, and the bar serves Turkish beer and Lebanese wine.

Al Sultan
Just off Shepherd's Market, Al Sultan is a small, beautifully run Lebanese that has attracted couples and families for absolute yonks. The Middle Eastern restaurant traditions, white linen, flowers, mirrors and snappy service are all in evidence here, but even if Al Sultan weren't quite so inviting the food would still win a loyal following. Our absolute favourite thing to do is bring half a dozen friends and order every starter we can lay our hands on. Let the feast begin. Hummus shawarma with lamb and pine nuts is great, so are the falafel, and kallaje, the kibbeh, and fattouch and the moutabal, but those who know say the tabouleh is truly great. The wine list is an absolute winner, too.

Al Waha
For those who don’t know, Al Waha translates simply as ‘oasis’. And that’s exactly what this fine Middle Eastern restaurant is to many Londoners who return time and time again to sample the welcoming atmosphere and tempting mezze style food. Situated on Westbourne Grove in ever-trendy Notting Hill, Al Waha is unassumingly simple in décor, remaining classic in simple white and earth tones while other restaurants around it succumb to passing fads. Art works reflect the establishment’s Eastern background while abundant greenery surrounds the always busy tables. Pick a selection of dishes from the comprehensive Lebanese menu to share with your fellow guests or (if you’re feeling selfish) to enjoy all to yourself. Particularly recommended are the delicious kebabs straight from the chargrill.

Bayty Restaurant
Bayty restaurant is a welcome addition to the Barnes dining scene, providing south west Londoners with a place to enjoy fresh, tasty Lebanese food. Bayty, meaning 'home' in Lebanese, is literally a home away from home – the owner Juliano Salha named it intending for it to be a welcoming refuge for his customers, and knowing he'd end up spending more time at the family-run restaurant than his own home! Bayty prides itself on offering traditional Lebanese cuisine made with good quality, fresh ingredients; in Middle Eastern cooking, the flavour is key, so expect expertly blended herbs and spices. The menu offers something for everyone; customers can enjoy a large range of hot and cold vegetarian and meat mezzes and grilled meat and fish. The wine list, too, is extensive, with the focus on Lebanese wine, although there are also international and exclusive wines on offer. Desserts, including baklava and strong Lebanese coffee are worth sticking around for or, if you're in the mood, Bayty offers a heated outdoor area for shisha smoking.

Byblos Harbour
For authentic Lebanese cuisine and a warm welcome, London’s city slickers head for Byblos Harbour – a relaxed yet stylish restaurant overlooking Millwall Dock. The restaurant is named after the Lebanese city of Byblos, which is said to be the oldest in the world, and the chefs use traditional recipes and high quality ingredients to create classic Middle Eastern specialties. The menu includes popular dishes like Shawarma LaHem (thin slices of marinated, grilled lamb shoulder) and Loukoz (grilled sea bass with sesame seed marinade). The hot and cold mezze is popular at lunch and after work, and the traditional sweet pastries are a satisfying end to the meal. Darbucka
Darbucka bar in Clerkenwell has a fabulous concept. They serve fresh Lebanese cuisine on 2 levels. The upstairs restaurant features a mix of high and low tables, perfect for sampling the menu. Downstairs in the World Music Bar, the lighting becomes shadowy, the culture aural, with live world music that will pull you up out of your soft, low seating and get you dancing – or even belly-dancing. Down here, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’ve wandered into a luxurious Bedouin tent: the walls are lined with red fabrics, colourful drapes shimmer in the glow of the lamps, completing the Eastern feel. If you’re feeling elegantly exotically Eastern, make sure you reserve your place at Darbucka.

Fairuz
FFairuz restaurant in London’s Marylebone is named in tribute to Lebanon's most famous chanteuse and cultural icon - a sweet, unguarded idea that, if copied, could lead to Bob Dylan the chippie or Cliff Richard the burger bar. Fairuz the restaurant is one of London's more relaxed and intimate Lebanese restaurants, with comfortable, rustic décor and a warm welcome. Fairuz still observes all the traditions: formal service, the instant appearance of olives and chilled salad upon arrival. But the décor, cooking, and staff are all pleasantly flamboyant and at Fairuz there's a general bonhomie among the staff and clientele. The Lebanese cuisine bursts with Eastern Mediterranean flavours - old favourites like tabouleh, foul moukaaka, and moutabaal do new dance steps on your tongue. The raw meat starters are unmissable. Good vegetarian selection, of course, and there is complimentary fruit and baklava with coffee.
