Axis Bar & Restaurant
Axis occupies part of the ground floor overlooking the courtyard of the Hilton Islington and does a very good job of keeping up with the Joneses (the Business Design Exhibition Centre is next door). A very design-led space, it's furnished with comfy sofas, rthe pefect place to unwind infront of the floor to ceiling windows; rather dramatic. The food is Mediterranean combined with traditional british. Daily-changing mezze are the dishes to start with, favourites include Patatas Bravas and Parma Ham with roasted Plums. Diners are predominantly business people and hotel guests, though couples do come in the evening when low lighting and candlelight create a nice, romantic atmosphere.

Cilicia
By day, Cilicia is a smiley, come-in-as-you-are café serving (all day) big breakfasts - the full English (veggie version) features grilled halloumi – and lunches. Then at 5pm sharp, it changes into a cosy restaurant serving unpretentious Mediterranean grills, seafood, mezes, casseroles and pide. Traditional desserts include baklava and sutlach, a kind of creamy rice pudding. The mix of orange-painted walls, bare brick, assorted artefacts and multi-coloured hanging lamps give the place a real warmth.

Clicia
By day, Clicia is a good value neighbourhood café; by night, a popular restaurant liked for its down-to-earth cosiness. Pretty lamps cast their multicoloured over an assortment of old mirrors and wall hangings. A simple Mediterranean menu of grills, fish, cassoulets, meze and vegetarian dishes tends to warm the heart as well as the stomach. A handful of tables outside beneath the green canopy allow for a decent spell of Stokey-watching when the weather’s fine.

Pamphylia Restaurant
Pamphylia Restaurant means colourful lanterns, hanging gourds, ‘magic’ lamps and unusual small arched windows -- it goes a significant way towards creating a beautifully warm feel in this Muswell Hill Mediterranean. For a posh-looking place, Pamphylia prices its menu very reasonably; the most you’ll be charged is £6.50 for a casserole. It specialises in pide, a traditional Anatolian dish that’s bit like an open calzone, skillfully shaped from a small ball of dough to produce a crispy outer crust. You choose the filling; minced lamb, and spinach and goats cheese are popular. Best eaten with the hands.
