Almeida
The Almeida brings a breath of modern French cuisine to a trendy part of N1. A totally grown-up restaurant with sophisticated interior, warm woods are joined by white table cloths and the satisfying ching of crystal. French wait staff zip noiselessly between the tables, translating the menu and offering suggestions. Meanwhile Head Chef Alan Jones, fresh from Michelin starred Lucknam Park, has immediately made his mark, creating a menu with classical French influences and a modern touch. Many dishes are steamed or poached, providing customers with a lighter experience and more elegant presentation. The Almeida is renowned for its revival of trolley service and the popular charcuterie trolley features home made rillettes, terrines and patés served with cornichons and homemade pickles – totally unique.

Morgan M
Morgan M is that that rare thing: a modern, formal neighbourhood restaurant owned by a chef with pedigree. Morgan Meunier used to be head chef at the Admiralty, and before that at the Michelin-Starred Monsieur Max in Twickenham. He’s been delighting critics and burghers of Islington with divine French food since taking residence on Liverpool Street in 2003. Popular starters include foie gras on toasted brioche, followed by a perfectly roasted duck breast, the leg confit, with a poelee of cepes, spinach and red wine jus. Vegetarians have a dedicated menu - The From The Garden. Do keep room for dessert. Also remember to be on your best behaviour, as Monsieur Meunier often emerges to greet his grateful guests once their plates are empty. As they inevitably are.
