Almeida
The Almeida brings a breath of modern French cuisine to a trendy part of N1. A totally grown-up restaurant with sophisticated interior, warm woods are joined by white table cloths and the satisfying ching of crystal. French wait staff zip noiselessly between the tables, translating the menu and offering suggestions. toptable Dining Awards 2010 - Runner-up: Best for Value. Despite the name, Angel Curry Centre in London’s Islington in Chapel Market is actually a small and perfectly-formed modern Indian restaurant. Short on neither competition nor regulars, the Angel Curry Centre’s great success is based on excellent, well-presented food at very attractive prices. All your favourites are here on the menu like chicken tikka masala and chicken dupiaza. Side and vegetarian dishes easily match the high standard of the meat dishes. And here’s another pocket-friendly aspect of Angel Curry Centre restaurant: you are welcome to bring your own alcoholic drink and there’s no corkage charge. Yet there’s no rowdiness, the tables of 30 to 50 year olds causing nothing more than a healthy buzz. Angel Curry Centre’s fans are legion and full of praise for the super Indian cuisine, the bubbling atmosphere and the friendly service and, who knows, after dining at this charming restaurant, you may find yourself a new convert.

Antonio's Ristorante
Located on Upper Street in Islington, Antonio’s is a family-owned restaurant that has won the hearts of locals with its friendly service and authentic Italian food. Inside, it’s reminiscent of the cosy trattorias you discover on Italian holidays – complete with exposed brickwork, candlelit tables and walls lined with wine bottles. Apollo
A traditional Greek restaurant on London’s busy Seven Sisters Road, Apollo will appeal to anybody looking for a taste of sunshine on a bleak British evening. Warmly welcoming with smiling, friendly service from the all-Greek staff and a simple, unfussy décor, Apollo combines excellent food with a relaxed, cheerful atmosphere and, often, live entertainment with a traditionally Greek focus – singing, dancing, bouzouki playing with plenty of audience participation.
