Ascot's Restaurant and Bar
Ascots restaurant and Bar in London, off heaving Oxford Street, is one of London's hidden gems. You enter the beautifully-decorated Radisson Edwardian Berkshire Hotel and ascend the period staircase to Ascots' smart dining room all kitted out in wooden flooring and wood-panelled walls, big windows to let in the sunshine, and clubby modern seating. It's a striking and comfortable blend of traditional and modern. Ascots has recently been awarded an AA rosette. Head Chef Frank Lagab confidently and deftly employs a simple approach to his classic dishes, employing fine seasonal ingredients that complement each other with real skill. Service is upbeat and friendly, presided over with professional finesse by Brian Kelliher. Besides the a la carte menu, a terrific value early bird menu gives you the opportunity to refresh yourself at the end of an afternoon in town. The international wine list mainly features Italian and French labels with some intriguing bottles worth exploring. In all, Ascots is perfect for a discreet drink, a meal for two or groups of friends to gather.

Babylon at The Roof Gardens
Situated 100 feet above London’s Kensington High Street, Babylon at the Roof Gardens has established itself as one of London’s most impressive restaurants. The dining room is an elegant and contemporary space with a subtle ‘nature’ theme, emphasised by vivid greens and leaf motifs. But it’s the views over the spectacular acre and a half of rooftop gardens that make Babylon at the Roof Gardens feel like an aerie hideaway in the middle of the metropolis. Popular with local high-flyers and well-dressed foodies, Babylon at the Roof Gardens restaurant offers a classic British menu that changes with the seasons to feature the freshest seasonal produce. We love the sautéed diver scallops with smoked bacon and the tender fillet of Scottish beef with a rich Madeira jus. Be sure to leave room for the dessert – Babylon’s apricot and Cointreau soufflé is a sensation. As you would expect, the service is impeccable and the wine list is full of handpicked gems.

Bentley's Oyster Bar & Grill
London’s classic seafood powerhouse has been bought out and revamped by the talented Richard Corrigan of Michelin-starred Lindsay House fame. The handsomely cut masculine dark woods and crisp white tablecloths ooze charm; and the air of traditional, polished and perfected Britishness matches one of the best seafood finds in town. Start off by comparing a selection of Rock and Native oysters (for which Bentley’s is justifiably famous) and move on to a marine-inspired take on beef Wellington with monkfish with cep duxelle wrapped in pastry. To go here and not sample the cracking fresh seafood would be somewhat asking to going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower.
