12 Temple Place Restaurant
Situated inside the stylish Swissôtel The Howard, 12 Temple Place is always buzzing with local City workers who drop in for business lunches and after-work meals. The minimalist dining room features glass-topped tables, quirky candelabras and stunning designer patchwork furniture, giving the restaurant a colourful and trendy atmosphere. In the summer months, the sunny garden courtyard is perfect for alfresco dinner dates. With Chef Brian Spark’s exquisite British menu and afternoon tea on offer, dining here is a real treat for your tastebuds. We love the assiette of suckling pig with crackling, celeriac, apples and grain mustard; the pea and crab mousse with marjoram, poached crayfish and bisque foam; and the roast buccleuch beef fillet, oxtail and bone marrow pie.

Adam Street
There's something rather fun about Adam Street, a private members club that spreads beneath The Strand. Maybe it's the fact that a solitary door leads to a surprising set of 18th cum 21st century vaults, or perhaps it's the friendly, successful, good-looking crowd that hang out here. Then again maybe it's because the vaults are literally the stuff of Dickens' novels. Whatever the reason, there's a lot to like about Adam Street - especially the restaurant. Set in a semi-circular vault, it's lined with sumptuous dark red banquettes and several mirrors, a must for the roving eye. The modern British club menu is probably best described as jazzed up public school comfort food, so think salmon fishcake with baby spinach and rhubarb crumble; simple but exclusive.

Albannach
A leading light on the London dining scene, Albannach is glamorous, decadent, smart and classic. Spread over three grandiose floors on Trafalgar Square, the restaurant is spacious and modern with dark woods used throughout and witty touches which appeal to the local fashion and media crowd. A restructured menu follows a pattern of high quality ingredients, including beef from the famous Hereford Cattle, and classic, simple creations, all showcasing what modern British cuisine has to offer. Grills and fish are at the forefront, flanked by lighter salads and starters and the best British desserts plus delectable whisky cocktails which form the backbone of a strong selection of drinks available at your table or in the bar.

Boyd's Bar and Brasserie
Spectacular. There is no other word for Boyd’s Bar and Brasserie, part of The Northumberland on the very edge of Trafalgar Square. In such a historic setting it would be all to easy to create a contrived olde worlde atmosphere, however the designers of Boyd’s have instead sunk their teeth in to splendid surroundings with contemporary gusto, bringing together decadent original marble walls with traditional furniture and touches of timeless modern design to create an impressive space which is bound to elicit awed gasps from first time visitors. Surprisingly good value, Boyd’s Brasserie offers everything from a basic takeaway breakfast for just a fiver to a full English brunch, steak and chips and tapas, Brit style. From its food to its feel, Boyd’s successfully creates the air of an old fashioned gentlemen’s club brought elegantly in to the 21st century.

Crusting Pipe
Locations don't come much more impressive than that belonging to the oddly named Crusting Pipe, situated on the ground level of the famous Covent Garden market hall. With its Dickensian moniker it will come as no surprise to learn that the Crusting Pipe is a Victorian style venue, however you're more likely to find well turned out theatre goers at the tables than Fagin and Magwitch types. Light and airy, boasting a large outdoor seating area from which views of the market can be enjoyed along with your glass of wine from the vast list of good value Davy's house wines, or indeed your vintage port - after all it is the Crusting Pipe's speciality. An excellent range of traditional grill-style food is offered too, making the Crusting Pipe a pre-theatre favourite.
