All Star Lanes
When it opened in 2006 All Star Lanes bowled London right over. A few years on and this bowling alley, restaurant and all around place to see and be seen, is going from strength to strength. Styled as a retro American diner, complete with leather lined booths and low slung lights. Even the odd winking ‘50s pin up is to be spotted here and there. The dining area overlooks the bowling alley which has made All Star Lanes a favourite adding plenty of fun and quirky entertainment to your evening, whether you intend to hit a few strokes or not. All Star Lanes food is, of course, classic American diner fare done with style and sophistication and accompanied by cocktails too.

Circus
Nobody could fail but feel cheerful when faced with the prospect of an evening spent at London’s Circus. Without a lion tamer in sight, this tongue in cheek restaurant, bar and burlesque club, is somehow extraordinarily stylish whilst being totally kitsch at the same time. This could well have something to do with the man behind the design – designer of the moment Tom Dixon, who put together the breathtaking interior which gives one the impression of a medieval banquet shot in to the 25th century, nestling inside an oversized disco ball. Accompanying deliciously decadent cocktails are dishes designed with communal dining in mind. Tapas style small dishes plus larger offerings are unusual, international and utterly, utterly tempting. So much so, you’ll almost be distracted from the risque entertainment.

Joe Allen
Joe Allen restaurant, in the heart of the Theatre District, is a London institution that, like the London Eye, remains lively and fascinating. It used to be that you had to work to find the dark door and tiny plaque by the entrance down Exeter Street by Covent Garden, but now a proper awning marks the spot so there’s no confusion. Once you enter, you descend into theatrical nirvana, an exposed-brick dark-wood New York-style complex, plastered with show posters, photos, and programmes. The long bar, seasonally-changing North American menu and seriously A-list regulars are all crowd-pleasers. Jimmy the resident pianist has been playing six nights a week since the doors opened 30 years ago. Casual, reliable, and open from lunch til late, Joe Allen is one of the West End’s biggest hits. And how can an American restaurant not have a hamburger on the menu? Well, they do. Just ask.

Typically Tex Mex, Los Locos offers generous portions of delicious, simple food all extremely well priced and accompanied by cocktails, classic and creative alike.

Smollensky's on the Strand
Smollensky’s on The Strand restaurant in central London near Covent Garden, theatres and museums, has long been known for its relaxed atmosphere, fun vibe and party spirit. It seems to be constantly buzzing with lunchtime groups, after-work drinkers, weekend families and lively late evening diners. Smollensky's food is British and Mediterranean and is mainly grilled-based fare. Simple and hearty it may be, but at Smollensky's on the Strand there's real attention to detail – all the meat is from grass-fed herds, for example, and the company makes its own marinades and sauces. With its unfinished brick walls and gentle, subdued lighting, this West End restaurant and bar is cool and unfussy, the perfect spot for simple, well-prepared food and a good night out with friends or work colleagues. The big, chatty wine list spans the globe. Weekend lunchtimes are dedicated to families, with an entertainer, goodie bags and free balloons for children.
