5th View Champagne and Seafood Bar
The views alone are worth the visit to 5th View – the surprising hidden gem of a restaurant on the fifth floor of Piccadilly’s branch of Waterstones. Sweeping across London towards Big Ben, its an outlook which any restauranteur would give sell his soul for. But rather than rest purely on their windows, 5th View have created an indulgent seafood and Champagne bar with a decadent feel and excellent food. Sumptuous and comfortable with a gentlemans-club-meets-boudoir-meets-country-mansion look, 5th View combines tactile furnishings with classic design and a buzzing atmosphere. A mouthwatering menu brings together the very best seafood out there, including native oysters, Devon crab and Scottish salmon, all of which are beautifully accompanied by a fine Champagne menu.

Cheneston's at the Milestone Hotel
Its name taken from an early spelling of Kensington, Cheneston’s At The Milestone Hotel offers fine international cuisine in an intimate setting. Be transported from the busy London streets to a relaxing environment, surrounded by fascinating Victorian architecture complimented by fine mahogany furniture. Chef Luke Davis and his team balance natural creativity with a flair for modern British cuisine and, wherever possible, locally sourced, organic ingredients. Don’t feel constrained by the menu though – at Cheneston’s the emphasis is very much on making the customer feel at home. Year round gourmet events and an eight course degustation menu are illustrations of the passion for food and wine – more than 400 vintages are available – at this excellent restaurant.

Located inside the central and modern Mostyn Hotel near London's Marble Arch, Fire and Spice is a cosmopolitan restaurant popular with stylish travellers and local business types. Tucked away downstairs from the reception area, Fire and Spice is a secluded space decorated with warm earthy colours, wooden floors and plush seating perfect for romantic rendezvous and discreet business meetings. The menu here is classic British cuisine with an exotic twist, and the cocktail bar also offers a happy hour and screens sporting events. We love the pan-seared sea bass drizzled in a coconut and ginger sauce; the smoked duck breast salad with a raspberry and hazelnut dressing; and the gammon steak with chips, a fried egg and grilled pineapple.

Lola and Simón
This chic and cosy neighbourhood restaurant in Hammersmith, London, is run by a couple called Kirsten and Nico – not to be confused with their dogs Lola and Simòn who reside in Buenos Aires. Hailing from Argentina and New Zealand respectively, Nico and Kirsten have combined the best ingredients from their home countries to design an innovative menu at Lola Simòn that has proved a hit with Hammersmith locals. Favourite dishes include the Antipodean-style brunch; tender New Zealand lamb served with sweet potato and mint pesto; and an amazing Argentinian rib eye steak served with butternut purée. Peter Stringfellow's Angels @ The Wardour
Peter Stringfellow's infamous gentlemen's club on Wardour Street in the heart of London's Soho district is better known for its celebrity clientele than its cuisine, however we take our hats off to the restaurant's kitchen for its assured international menu. Luckily for some, Stringfellow's Angels @ The Wardour take more than just their hats off throughout the evening which can prove a distraction from the plush surrounds. If you're genuinely interested in the food, we highly recommend the half grilled baby lobster glazed with tomato and basil hollandaise; the scotch rib eye steak with purée baby spinach and warm duck leg confit and goats cheese salad. Stringfellow's very own luscious ladies make a deliciously welcome change for pud.
