Crazy Bear
Crazy Bear restaurant in London's Fitzrovia became a local landmark almost as soon as it opened. The madly stylish interior – including its supercool basement bar area – is Art Deco inspired and is one sexy setting for first dates as well as a super spot for groups of friends to gather. The menu seems to cover half of Asia, with sushi, sashimi, dim sum, pad Thai, Thai curries and Chinese stir-fried dishes. Bento boxes are available at lunch beginning in January, as is Sunday night cabaret and burlesque. The tasting menus are a great way for groups to sample the best flavours, or purist diners can stick to a single cuisine. Anything goes here. The atmosphere is 'party' and the super and award-winning cocktail menu goes a long way toward liftoff. Lots of diners choose to begin and end their evening in the divine bar - this is a great spot to bring out-of-towners too.

Gate Restaurant
Go through the wooden door next to the Gate cinema, down the narrow stairs and you'll find yourself in a very happening set of rooms where le tout Notting Hill finds itself eventually. The decor is minimalist and chic, and the wood laminate recalls modernist leanings of the newly retro seventies. The bar and dining rooms are lively, fun and easy, with a relaxed, clubby atmosphere. You'll find W11 media, fashion and industry folk gathered here, drinking some mighty fine cocktails and tucking into truly global grub. Head chef Dan White-House tempts you and your friends with their own delectable dim sum menu designed, as they tell us, so that it's conducive for partying, drinking and socialising. When you are done enjoy the music.

When restaurants make a quantum leap into the high-tech future, London’s restaurants lead the way. For example, conventional menus and order pads are so over. Inamo restaurant in Soho has the answer. At Inamo, the menu is projected onto your table by space-age pods above your head so you can use the touchpad to place your order, choose a tablecloth, and even play a game of Battleships. Chef Alex Ziverts, formerly of Eight Over Eight, Cocoon, and E O, presides over a pan-Asian menu split into smaller dishes like wild boar rolls and lobster salad and larger dishes like hot-stone rib-eye, Wagyu onglet and Thai red curry with butternut squash. Downstairs, you can enjoy Oriental-themed cocktails in the seriously stylish 65-person bar. Ideal for a first date, family meal with children, dinner with friends or just a quick post-work dinner, Inamo never fails to impress.
