11 Park Walk Restaurant
Southwest Londoners may recognise the name 11 Park Walk as the former address of high-end French restaurant Aubergine. It's no coincidence that Elleven Park Walk has opened on the site just off Chelsea's bustling Fulham Road – it's a fellow restaurant from the London Fine Dining Group stable (also home to Aubergine's country outpost, Alloro and Ken Lo's Memories of China amongst others). Elleven Park Walk is a self-proclaimed neighbourhood Italian restaurant; it's open all day, and customers will feel equally at home popping in for a quick bowl of pasta, or settling down for a leisurely dinner and a special bottle of wine. The food is high end Italian, specialising in regional and seasonal cuisine. A typical meal has the potential to take you on a trip around Italy, starting with Sicilian caponata, moving on to malloreddus (Sardinian semolina pasta) and finishing with a polenta dish from northern Italy.

Al Duca
Al Duca restaurant in London’s historic and elegant St James’s is an Italian restaurant that offers reasonable prices with style in what can be a pricey part of town. Opened by leading restaurateur Claudio Pulze (think Osteria dell’Angolo, Brasserie St Jacques, Via Condotti) in 1999, Al Duca remains one of the most popular eateries in the chic St James's area. Located between Piccadilly Circus and Green Park, this authentic Italian restaurant is ideal for business lunches, pre-theatre dinners and full-on feasts for the whole family. The interior is a comfortably stylish mix of light wood, crisp white linen and wall-mounted wine racks, while the atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious. Al Duca's menu features classic dishes like beef carpaccio with rocket and parmesan, roasted leg of rabbit with polenta, and delicious pastas like homemade ravioli with pheasant and rosemary. For dessert, we recommend the vanilla panna cotta with a glass of something smooth from their extensive Italian wine list.

Apsleys - A Heinz Beck Restaurant
Apsleys – A Heinz Beck Restaurant in London’s iconic Lanesborough Hotel at Hyde Park Corner has scaled the culinary heights under the direction of the three Michelin-starred German chef and gained its own Michelin star. Together with Executive Chef Massimiliano Blasone, Beck has created a menu that focuses on lighter Mediterranean-inspired dishes like sea bass cannolo, roast pigeon with pearl onion and mustard seed sauce and potato gnocchi with shellfish broth – very attuned to the way we like to dine in the 21st century. Apsleys' stunning Venetian-style dining room, with its glass roof and plush upholstery, is one of London’s most beautiful dining spaces, an elegant setting for any occasion. At lunchtime, Apsleys' ‘Menu del Giorno’ is popular with local business people, while Beck’s seven course tasting menu is ideal for celebratory dinners. The well-spaced tables give a subdued ambience and afternoon tea here is a delight. The wine list has enormous depth and includes some of the rarest cognacs in the world.

Barbarella
Barbarella, as its name might suggest, was big in the seventies and has been going strong ever since. You are most likely to be greeted by Bruno, an Italian Virgo oozing charm (that's a quote), who will warmly welcome you into his romantic restaurant. The very traditional Italian menu is full of favourites. Two recommendations are the veal with brandy, mushrooms and cream and the fillet steak with green peppercorns and red wine - almost the Italian national colours. The wine list favours Italians, but after dining and dancing at Barbarella, you probably will too.

Café Montpeliano
Café Montpeliano restaurant in London’s shopping mecca is the younger, quicker sibling of glamourous Ristorante Montpeliano around the corner, a tremendous spot for a quick meal and some serious people-watching in starry Knightsbridge. Not a stone’s throw from Harrods, Armani, and the delights of Beauchamp Place, Café Montpeliano is a casual Italian brasserie. Fabulous-looking clientele – and some tourists – nosh out on starter of carpaccio Cipriani, pasta of tortelloni with cream and rosemary, main course of steak Diana with vegetables, and dessert of tiramisu. The décor harks back to the glory days of la dolce vita. The pavement tables are molto populare. Great coffee.

Café Rialto
Should you find yourself promenading along the Fulham Road with your lover, grab their hand and lead them into the warmth of Café Rialto where popular Italian dishes are served by candlelight. Raising the romantic temperature are a fireplace, Venetian murals, and star-like ceiling lights. The food - prepared on the premises every day - is just as pleasurable. Share a sweet bruschetta, perhaps, before tucking into the fresh rolled pasta encasing the spinach and ricotta of a crespoline fiorentina (if you’d rather not have the cream sauce, there are eight others to choose from), or a sea bass fillet in a lemon and butter sauce from the specials menu. Plenty of vegetarian options too

Caffé Concerto
This second branch of Caffé Concerto enjoys as salubrious a location as the original. A handful of bistro table and chairs in front of a glass cabinet housing a can’t-walk-past-without-having-a-good-look display of cakes give a distinctly Italian look. Inside, the elegance continues with glossy redwood tables and a self-playing piano. At around 4pm, a simple Italian lunch menu changes to an evening menu of starters, salads, baguettes, classic pasta dishes, and a somewhat quirky list of chef’s suggestions. Of course, the real highlight is Concerto’s famous viennoiserie, patisserie and gateaux. There's even a well-rounded wine list to tempt lovers of the grape.

Caminata
A wonderful Italian restaurant beloved by the locals of London’s residential Balham area, Caminata serves authentic food in a cosy, atmospheric dining room. Generally bustling with a varied crowd that very much reflects Balham’s own diversity, Caminata offers a relaxed, friendly vibe perfectly complemented by efficient but unhurried and warm service. Part rustic farmhouse, part funky loft, Caminata’s interior is quite simply fabulous with its exposed duct work, rough stone walls and contemporary furnishings in sleek monochrome. Equally the Caminata menu walks a line between the bucolic and the urban, combining traditional rustic pizzas, traditionally made, with sophisticated pasta dishes and salads and a well edited selection of meat and fish dishes too.
