Banyan on Thames

Opal Bar
A sexy grotto below the lovely l’Etranger, Opal is a hidden gem of a drinking, dancing and dining den. The ambience is enhanced with black walls and sinuous banquettes that curve round the cave-like bends. Pockets of privacy here and there float under pools of coloured light. The rest of the seating is a flock of little poufs straight out of Austin Powers. Opal has a tremendously varied drinks list, focusing on gigundo kegs of punch to share among four to eight mates as well as classic Martinis and such. The menu is French-inflected Asian finger food, which suits the international crowd just fine. Share a platter of fresh sashimi, or an Oriental platter. Once you’re stoked, then dance the night away.

Make a model entrance along the 80ft lit catwalk which must be one of the most glamorous entrances to any restaurant in London. And the interior doesn't disappoint - there's a stunning cocktail bar where you can expect to find lots of movers and shakers from South Ken and Chelsea as well as the shopped-out from Brompton Cross. Loft style feel with oh-so-cool restaurant on upper level overlooking the opulent bar area. The menu is Pan-Asian cuisine, we love the sesame tiger prawns with peanut chilli and spring onion. The service is faultless and you are made to feel welcome in the beautiful surroundings. It's definitely worth a visit!
