First Edition Restaurant and Bar
A surprising restaurant tucked in to a quiet corner of London’s Canary Wharf, First Edition is considered by many to be the best independently run eatery in the area. First Edition’s nautical theme – all deckchair striped curtains, white washed wood and anchor motifs – sets it apart from the many loft-style brasseries in the area. The curtained booths allow for absolute intimacy while dining, perfect for romancing couples, however the remainder of the dining room has a bustling vibe which will appeal to others. Strong on fish and seafood, the First Edition menu is varied and vast with traditional style comfort dishes served alongside the more elegantly refined dishes influenced by French cuisine.

Joanna's
Quite possibly Crystal Palace’s favourite restaurant, Joanna’s is critically and publically acclaimed, with good reason. Dating way back to the 1970s, Joanna’s has weathered many a culinary storm and remained as current as the most modern restaurants springing up around the capital. Run by the Ellner family since its very first day, Joanna’s comfortable atmosphere owes as much to its cheerful, welcoming staff as to its cosy, wood panelled dining room wher a soundtrack of smooth jazz provides an easy backdrop to dinner. Once the kitchen purveyed American diner style eating, however Joanna’s has moved with the times, now offering contemporary international flavours (although the Joanna’s burger remains a favourite for good reason) plus a glorious traditional Sunday lunch and unmissable breakfasts too.
