Kym's
Kym's has placed an awning with a thick hedge of green between itself and the busy world, as if to create an oasis of greenery and calm for its guests. A Chinese restaurant specialising in Szechuan and Hunan cuisine, Kym's offers a warm welcome, an intimate atmosphere and attentive service. High praise is given to the double cooked pork and for vegetarians, the salt and pepper French bean. Massive menu made less daunting by the six set meals including vegetarian and pre-theatre. Maxim Chinese Restaurant
It’s a good sign when a restaurant is always busy, and Maxim in Ealing is bustling most nights. This long-established restaurant in Ealing is known affectionately by its customers as “Mrs Chow’s” in homage to the lady in charge of the cooking, who believes in using fresh, natural ingredients. Feeling adventurous? Swap sesame prawn toast for “shredded jellyfish with three delicacies” or “frog’s leg in black bean sauce”. If not, don’t worry – you’ll do just as well with traditional starters like satay chicken or sweet-and-sour won ton. Follow with aromatic duck, a classic of its kind with crisp golden skin and tender meat, or push the boat out with a whole lobster, halved and served with ginger and spring onion sauce. Side dishes like glossy, crispy green beans are equally good. Finish with deep-fried banana and apple, the crunchy coating giving way to soft, fluffy fruit.

Maximini Chinese Restaurant
toptable Dining Awards 2010 - Runner-up: Best for Parties. Like shoe designing, whipping up a great dish is an art,” says Jimmy Choo who has ventured in to the world of food with Maximini, an oriental restaurant near Hyde Park where the celebrity shoe smith is bringing a slice of his Malaysian home to Britain. As beautifully dressed as any of Jimmy’s A-list clients, Maximini is simplistic and chic with a hint of old fashioned colonial style which perfectly suits it’s fabulous Bayswater address. The irresistible Malaysian dishes are fused with more familiar Chinese flavours by master chef Albert Koh, to produce an innovative and exciting menu which, like a timeless pair of heels, looks set to become this season’s must-have.

Min Jiang
Kensington has never been lacking in the restaurant department but it now has an extra slice of Eastern glamour thanks to Min Jiang. A new breed of Chinese restaurant, Min Jiang occupies a stunning position high above the city on the tenth floor of the beautiful Royal Garden Hotel. With simply incredible views across parks towards skyscrapers, there really wasn’t any need to put too much effort in to the interior. However a red, white and black colourscheme gives a traditional yet cliché-free Chinese theme, attractive black and white photos and always fresh flowers ensure an interior every bit as beautiful as the view. Particularly inspired by the Sichuan region, Min Jiang’s menu is packed with spectacular Asian flavours from the various parts of China.
