Ffiona's Restaurant Ffiona’s is a proudly traditional restaurant in an idyllic corner of Notting Hill specialising in fine British cuisine. The hands on approach taken by the restaurant’s eponymous owner is one of remarkable attention to detail, with candlelit tables, flowery wallpaper, sheets of music scores on the ceiling and bleached wood tables providing an incredibly homely atmosphere in which to enjoy award winning rustic British food, inclusive of roast loin of pork, steak and kidney pie and a chicken Kiev boasted as “probably the best in the world”. First spotted by Gordon Ramsay in 1998 when he opened his own flagship restaurant on the same street, Foxtrot Oscar was snapped up by the celebrity chef at the first opportunity and given that sprinkling of Ramsay charm. With its sleek, warm décor, the walls hung with fabulous monochrome photography, and relaxed but professional service, Foxtrot Oscar is a swanky bistro just oozing urbane charm. Green's Restaurant and Oyster Bar Owned by Simon Parker-Bowles, Lord Daresbury and Lord Vestey, this cavernous, chi-chi dining room has a pedigree beyond its aristocratic ownership in that it is set in the grand halls of a former Lloyds bank in Cornhill, and the monied crowd of suits, solicitors and socialistas adore the fresh oysters, the Laurent-Perrier Champagne room, and the semi-private high-backed leather booths perfect for discreet business dining. The wine list is impressive, and highlights include the Loch Ryan oysters, and the rump of Lovaton Farm lamb and the chilled rice pudding. Greig's Quietly nestled on a mews between Berkeley Square and Bond Street, Greig's has a reputation as London's best steak restaurant. Founded by Alistair Greig in 1959, its philosophy remains; the best ingredients cooked simply. Popular stalwarts on the menu are great British staples as shepherd's pie and roast beef and Yorkshire pudding. Floor to ceiling oak-panelling, thick white linen, £1000 Rothschild wines, this is typical Mayfair restaurant, naturally attracting well-off 40-something with a weakness for family-butcher Scotch steaks. Should you wonder how many wine bottles that line the restaurant walls, the answer is around 3,000 - most of them French, all seriously good. We leave you with another plus point: not a table-turning place, book a table at Greig's and it’s yours for the night.
