Perfect for get-togethers, birthdays and Sunday lunch – this restaurant has a pub-lite approach to the predictable gastro-pub formula, and is more of a relaxed restaurant than a typical British boozer - but this low-key vibe attracts a food-loving crowd. The Thomas Cubitt
Elegant and understated, The Thomas Cubitt in Belgravia embodies the epitome of the English aristocracy: restraint, reserve and royal connections. Named after Camilla Parker Bowles' great-grandfather – a revolutionary figure in the construction industry – The Thomas Cubitt attracts the Boden-clad Belgravia brigade as well as posh food lovers from Primrose Hill and St John's Wood. A chic place for Sunday roasts and cosy evening meals, the first floor dining room is decorated with pearly grey walls and oak flooring, and the light-filled, wood-panelled ground floor bar is ideal for pre-dinner drinks. The seared Loch Crinan scallops and the herb-crusted venison are superb, and we recommend leaving room for the pistachio, plum and frangipani tart.

The Troubadour
A sanctuary for those who appreciate the joy of genuine coffee house. Its Bohemian roots lie firmly in the second great London coffee revolution of the 1950s when it began its proud history as a centre of courtesy, peace and creativity. The Warrington by Gordon Ramsay
Located on the leafy corner of Warrington Crescent and Randolph Avenue in Maida Vale, The Warrington is an ornate Victorian pub that has been given the glossy Gordon Ramsay treatment. Now it's a posh gastro pub serving classic British fare, but back in 1857 the boozer used to be a famous brothel. So famous the saying “feeling randy” comes from the restaurant's location on Randolph Avenue, and the opulent bar downstairs, with Art Noveau décor, has a palpable history. Upstairs the rarefied dining room is decorated in hushed, neutral tones, and signature dishes include the potted Barbary duck with poached figs and apple salad; the roasted chicken with girolles, peas and tarragon velouté; and Knickerbocker Glory for dessert.
