Beauberry House
If Philippe Stark and Jay Gatsby had a lovechild, it would be Beauberry House restaurant in Dulwich. Set in a grand Georgian mansion surrounded by acres of lush green lawn, Beauberry House is a breath of fresh air for stressed-out Londoners. The elegant dining area – aptly named the White Room – is a zen haven filled with businessmen and chic media types. With oak flooring, white walls and stunning white chandelier, the chic interior is complimented by the excellent service and the friendly sommelier. The slow-cooked sea bass with samphire and a cockle vinagrette melts in your mouth, and the roasted saddle of lamb with courgette marmalade is superb. The presentation and atmosphere of Beauberry House is faultless, and the bar and private dining room offer bespoke party solutions.

Bentley's Oyster Bar & Grill
London’s classic seafood powerhouse has been bought out and revamped by the talented Richard Corrigan of Michelin-starred Lindsay House fame. The handsomely cut masculine dark woods and crisp white tablecloths ooze charm; and the air of traditional, polished and perfected Britishness matches one of the best seafood finds in town. Start off by comparing a selection of Rock and Native oysters (for which Bentley’s is justifiably famous) and move on to a marine-inspired take on beef Wellington with monkfish with cep duxelle wrapped in pastry. To go here and not sample the cracking fresh seafood would be somewhat asking to going to Paris and not seeing the Eiffel Tower.

Bistro 51
Bistro 51 is the most informal of the Crowne Plaza’s London St James’s three restaurants. It’s a light, bright informal space with pale yellow walls, white linen, posies on each table, and classic Gallic framed posters – a lively, laidback setting for French and British dining (think steak and thin fries, and liver with buttery mash and bacon). Lunch specials are ordered from five chalk board which at night list recommended aperitifs and wines. Very capable service provided by an international team.

Bluebird Restaurant
Bluebird Restaurant in London’s perennially-popular Chelsea is a warm, relaxing and utterly stylish space to be enjoyed from lunch through afternoon tea and dinner. The decor combines classic British design with exciting modern furniture and details in welcoming deep reds and chocolate browns, gracing the loft-like dining room with cosy intimacy. No, there are no actual blue birds in this restaurant, just glimmering chandeliers that accentuate the stunning skylight or maybe you’ll be fascinated by the passing parade on the King’s Road below. Head Chef Mark Block has created a brilliant modern British menu employing only the finest ingredients in dishes like seared Scottish scallops with guacamole, Goosnargh chicken and mushroom pie and Bluebird’s famous rump of salt marsh lamb. The sexy bar has a vibe and scene of its own – not to be missed. Bluebird is a fabulous addition to the Kings Road restaurant scene.

Boisdale of Bishopsgate
The clubby atmosphere, the excellent range of whiskies and fine cigars, the high-achieving British cooking, and the bubbling idiosyncrasies of the proprietor all blend brilliantly to make Boisdale a unique establishment. An outpost of the original Boisdale in Belgravia, the Champagne and Oyster Bar and the lower-ground vaulted restaurant are replete with enough tartan to upholster Arthur's Seat, intriguing old prints, dark wood, and the strains of classic jazz from 7 o'clock every evening. The modern British menu heavily features fresh shellfish and oysters, and all ingredients are sourced wherever possible from Scotland. Try starter of venison terrine with spiced kumquat marmalade, main course of Angus ribeye with bearnaise, grilled tomato and chips, and pud of raspberry cranachan with 15 year old Dalwhinnie. And we can definitely recommend the haggis.

Boyd's Bar and Brasserie
Spectacular. There is no other word for Boyd’s Bar and Brasserie, part of The Northumberland on the very edge of Trafalgar Square. In such a historic setting it would be all to easy to create a contrived olde worlde atmosphere, however the designers of Boyd’s have instead sunk their teeth in to splendid surroundings with contemporary gusto, bringing together decadent original marble walls with traditional furniture and touches of timeless modern design to create an impressive space which is bound to elicit awed gasps from first time visitors. Surprisingly good value, Boyd’s Brasserie offers everything from a basic takeaway breakfast for just a fiver to a full English brunch, steak and chips and tapas, Brit style. From its food to its feel, Boyd’s successfully creates the air of an old fashioned gentlemen’s club brought elegantly in to the 21st century.

Brasa
On the first floor of a real architectural gem of a building is Brasa, a grill style restaurant and a part of the Fulham community too. Breathing new life in to a room dating back more than 300 years, the design team at Brasa have done an incredible job of embracing the past while pointing this superb restaurant directly to the future. The result is a warmly comforting environment where one feels completely able to relax and enjoy the kitchen’s delicious British cookery. Worn leather, aged brick and deeply patinated woods are used throughout the Brasa décor, creating a cosy, softly masculine look, a somehow appropriate backdrop for top of the range equipment – from the kitchen’s Asador grill, imported from the Basque region of Spain, to the bar’s large Gaggia coffee machine, among Italy’s best. Of equally high quality are the raw ingredients used in simple, flavour filled dishes cooked over hot coals to order, a method that really does bring out the best of every dish. The entire Brasa menu is available as sharing dishes, perfect for romantic dinners or group dining.
