The Brasserie at The Grosvenor Just moments from London's Victoria Station and walking distance to Buckingham Palace, The Brasserie restaurant is the perfect stop-off for weary travellers. The Brasserie, located in the beautifully renovated Grosvenor Hotel, boasts a warm ambiance and soft lighting with dark wood furnishings and original Victorian features. The menu, created by executive chef Robert Prendergast, specialises in classically British cuisine with a few European touches thrown in. Here diners can start the day with full English breakfasts or something more continental. The lounge offers a more informal setting and casual lunch menu with burgers, sandwiches and salads or, for something more indulgent, diners can treat themselves to a traditional or champagne afternoon tea, replete with petit fours, scones with fruit preserves and clotted cream, finger sandwiches and loose leaf tea. The lunch and dinner menu has something for everyone; featured dishes may include soups, sharing platters and a host of more hearty mains like moules marinière, fish and chips or Welsh lamb. The Brasserie at The Tower Top marks for the view. The Tower Hotel is on the north bank of the Thames overlooking pristine St Katharine's Docks and next door to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London. Located on the ground floor of The Tower are the hotel's two restaurants: a carvery and The Brasserie. The Brasserie is more of a casual dining experience serving a Modern British menu in a light, airy space with a panoramic view of Tower Bridge. The animated, largely City crowd show a particular liking for the crab and salad starter followed by a nice ribeye steak and veg. High-level but informal plated service. In summer, the terrace makes a good spot to while away a leisurely afternoon away from it all. Cuisine: British Location: The Tower Hotel, St. Katharine's Way, London, E1W 1LD [Map] |

The Brill The Brill is a posh British restaurant on the Caledonian Road near King's Cross, named after the time of day that Roman soldiers would meet to feast and drink after a hard day of plundering. Even if plundering isn't your thing, a meal at The Brill is the perfect way to end your day and the chic vanilla-and-chocolate coloured interior, basement bar, well-coiffed crowd and convenient location are enough to make this qualify as a cosy local gem. The menu is produced using the finest locally sourced produce, and classic Brit dishes on offer include the crispy duck, bacon and black pudding salad; the sausages with buttered mash and onion gravy; and the spotted dick for pudding.
