No20 @ Sanctum Soho Hotel
Just like the Warwick Street hotel in which it is sited, No20 restaurant supplies the pleasures we secretly crave. London's Sanctum Soho Hotel, a rock ‘n’ roll hotel created from a pair of townhouses once occupied by MI5, is already a hit with an über-chic West End crowd, so you are guaranteed a starry bunch of co-diners at No20. The croc-skin upholstery and rosy gold banquettes and diamante door handles are pretty seriously swish. With Head Chef Gavin Austin at the helm, British cuisine is given an accomplished twist in brilliantly-executed dishes that match their fine dining surroundings. Fish fingers are transformed into delicate bread-crumbed salt cod cakes with tomato and chilli jam. Burgers become lavish affairs of wagyu beef and foie gras. No20 restaurant @ The Sanctum Hotel has a fabulous rooftop bar for pre-dinner cocktails. This London restaurant is a great choice for dates.

North Nineteen
Set in the increasingly gentrified Holloway area of North London, North Nineteen is a sign of the times. Where once you might have expected to find spit and sawdust now lies the model contemporary pub-restaurant. Not one detail has been missed here. Stripped wooden floors, reclaimed glamour meets austere Scandinavian design and the all important comfy armchairs. Similarly the mainly British food menu has been thoroughly updated so that those old deep fried classics are now fresh, delicious and always home cooked. European influences add a welcome twist while North Nineteen’s Sunday Roast has become local legend.
