Mahogany Models was founded in order to promote models of colour and its ethos is to strive to ensure that models of colour are given the same opportunities as any other model. As a fundamental part of that process, the TMC was established in order to give models of colour an opportunity, that they might otherwise not get, to learn about the modelling industry, to give them national exposure, and to serve as a launch pad for contestants to go on to become top models. Based on the modelling industry in the UK currently, there is no doubt that the industry generally has not yet realised, or is not yet willing to accept the need for employing and using more models of colour in their advertising campaigns.
We look forward to the day when a plethora of models of colour, not only appear in day to day ad campaigns in the UK, but also take their rightful place alongside Naomi Campbell, as fashion icons on the front page of leading magazines such as Vogue.
