Streethands is a London based voluntary, not-for-profit, community grassroots organisation, driven by strong humanitarian values.
It’s primary objective is to provide a voice for children trapped in the cycle of domestic violence hence the service model is based on prevention and intervention.
Streethands has three goals:
Regenerate- young lives affected by domestic violence
Rebuild – Self esteem and aspirations
Reintegrate – back into society through opportunities in work and education.
Streethands provides a holistic approach to the issue of children being impacted by domestic violence, it focuses on the distress caused to children from witnessing domestic violence and being caught up in the cycle.
Streethands works with young people to prevent the cycle of abuse – so that affected children do not become perpetrators or victims and learn to recognise domestic violence.
There is a real lack of specific emotional support available to children witnessing/experiencing domestic violence and Streethands addresses this gap, as a start at least.
