Founded in 2017 and headquartered in London, Marshmallow is a UK-based digital car insurance company whose mission is to use technology and data to offer fairer, more accessible motor insurance - especially to drivers who have historically been underserved by the traditional insurance market.
Marshmallow was established by twins Oliver Kent‑Braham and Alexander Kent‑Braham alongside software engineer David Goaté. The inspiration behind the company was recognising that many drivers - especially those new to the UK - were paying inflated premiums or being excluded because their overseas driving history wasn’t taken into account. Marshmallow set out to address that gap.
Marshmallow is a fully comprehensive car insurer: it does not offer third-party only cover. Instead every policy is comprehensive cover, meaning damage to your own car, injury to you or your passengers, and damage to others are all covered.
Marshmallow allows proof of claim-free driving from any country, in any language, and credits it toward No Claims Discount (NCD) for customers new to the UK.
Policies can be bought online in minutes; customers can use a mobile app to manage documents, make changes, start claims, and chat live with support. No cumbersome phone-only customer service.
Marshmallow offers four tiers of cover (“Lightest”, “Essential”, “Original”, “Plus”) with optional add-ons like breakdown cover, legal protection, and “driving other cars” cover.
