Lessons are engaging, stimulating and fun and she offers a broad range of musical styles so students can customize what they want to learn. Classical piano, ABRSM Exams ( 100% success ) Theory. Also easy to intermediate Jazz, Improvising and Song Writing. Of course, students can do a mix of all of these.
There is also a choice of lesson where you can focus on a specific musical area. For this Genene has created ‘Theme Lessons’. These are for pianists with some playing experience already.
Piano Skills Upgrade Do you struggle in several areas of your playing? Genene’s unique methods will upgrade your technique, rhythm and overall playing abilities.
Perfect Practice Method If you are going round in circles and getting frustrated not knowing how to practice efficiently, then her unique method will give you all the tools for perfect practice. This is one of the most important skills you need to play piano well.
Easy Jazz Impro For those who have never improvised before. Focus is on easy jazz scales and boogie bass-lines to play basic 12 bar blues. Plus many methods for easy improvisation.
Useful Theory Scales; intervals; chords; keys. Clarification of these theory fundamentals for those wanting more focus on these topics.
ABRSM Theory Exam Help At present, she offers tuition for Grades 1, 2 and 3. And can begin pre-grade theory if needed. Up to student if they want to take the actual exam or not.
Ages and levels taught:
Genene now specializes in beginners up to Grade 5 standard. Preferring to put her time and energy into giving students the best start and nurturing their progress up to intermediate levels. She welcomes adults of any age and children from 8 years old up.
Where are the lessons?
She teaches online and has some spaces in person at her home in Islington.
She can also visit your home in person locally in London. These are within a reasonable radius of Islington, N1 and N7. In certain circumstances, travel outside this radius is possible – ie; longer lesson times or several students in the area.
For visits in the comfort of your home, she welcomes longer lesson times for you to make use of your time with her in person. Minimum home lesson duration is 45 mins. If a travel fee is applicable, this can be discussed.
About
LTCL qualified. Piano / Viola Grade 8. 25 years teaching piano experience from her successful teaching practice in London. She has performed at the RFH, Barbican, Royal Albert Hall. Played in orchestras with Julian Lloyd Webber and Laurie Anderson. Plus session work for bands. Her music has been premiered with 'Nonclassical’ Having had a foot in both the Classical and pop world in the past, it has given her a colourful diverse musical background which brings its own flavour to her lessons.
She is currently writing a book about how to practice piano. She is also working on a unique piano tutorial series. This will be accompanied by other books about easy jazz and improvisation.
