East London Small-Group Walking Tour with Indian Lunch

East London Small-Group Walking Tour with Indian LunchThe Great Fire of London, the Blitz, the Plague and Jack the Ripper – these are just some of the highlights you will cover on your guided small-group walking tour through the darker side of London’s 2,000-year history. See St Paul's Cathedral, pass by the Bank of England and walk down the same paths where Jack the Ripper got up to no good. Climb up the 311 steps of the Monument, which commemorates the Great Fire of London, and enjoy panoramic views out over the city. Your small-group tour ends with an authentic Indian curry in Brick Lane, the vibrant East End street that is famed for its colorful curry houses.

Numbers are limited to 15 people on this small-group walking tour, ensuring you'll receive personalized attention from your guide.

Your tour will start on the steps of St Paul's Cathedral, Sir Christopher Wren's Baroque masterpiece that rose from the ashes of the great fires, bombardments, riots and more that London suffered throughout the centuries. Your journey continues to the Guildhall, one of England's famous medieval halls, parts of which date from 1411.

You'll visit the Square Mile (London's financial district) and walk to Threadneedle Street, home since 1734 to the Bank of England, which preserves not only gold bars but also the legend of modern finance. Next, climb 311 steps to the top of the Monument (also known as the Monument to the Great Fire of London); this popular Roman column stands near Pudding Lane, where the Great Fire started in 1666. Standing at 200 feet (61 meters) tall, the Monument boasts a spectacular view over the city and the River Thames.

Leaving the Monument behind, you will travel to the 19th century as you follow the footsteps of Jack the Ripper. Pass by London’s oldest markets while you explore the neighborhood where Jack famously murdered prostitutes in 1888.

Two hours of walking around London will leave you hungry! Luckily, you’ll have a delicious lunch of authentic Indian curry to finish your tour. Dine in a family-run restaurant on Brick Lane, and enjoy one of London’s most popular dishes.
